I.   NEWCAST-Calling 5000 years Resurrection of I Ching

The oldest method for casting hexagrams (서술법 : 筮術法)
 is the method by using 50 yarrow stalks.

But it requires a very complicated procedures to do.

So, the yarrow stalks method was gradually replaced during
the Han Dynasty by the 3 coins method.

Still, it has an equiprobability problem
and it needs some flat space to throw the coins.

Now there NEW CAST method is created,
calling 5000 years resurrection of I Ching.

It has 3 obvious and peculiar characteristics ;

(1)  It serves a perfect equiprobability
      in casting Hexagrams.

(2)  It gives the feelings of that this is my own Hexagram
      because I casted with my own finger

      not fortuneteller’s finger.

(3)  It is so easy and simple, any time you can do it with
       a couple of minutes.

 Thus every morning on the way to work,

The Greatness of I Ching lies on a compendium and classic
of cosmic principles.

The text of I Ching (Book of Changes) is a set of symbolized statement of 64 sets of six lines called Hexagrams.

Each Hexagram is composed of six stacked lines of Yang (unbroken line) and Eum (open line with a space in the mid point of the line).

When the Hexagram is considered as an aggregation of the lines of Yang and

Eum, and when the Yang could be defined as 1, and the Eum defined as 0,

the Hexagram could be an aggregation of two numeric digits of 1 and 0.

Then the Hexagrams can be expressed with binary levels like 101001, 110011 ….

This binary level conception is associated with the famous Chinese Scholar and Philosopher: Shao Yung (邵雍 : 1011-1077,  Song Dinasty). He is considered that he clearly understood the binary sequence is a logical progression of values. But it is uncertain that he knew the numbers can be used in computation. Also he probably did not know that this binary levels could be a very important bridge to connect the General Public and the Divination World : I Ching

Mr. K is a Sales manager of electronic appliances manufacturing Company.

He works in sales office of the company in Seoul.

He always starts his home at 7 o’clock Anyang to drive to Seoul, taking 30 minutes ( 25 kilometer)

In the midway to office, he reaches Sadang intersection, where he must stop more than 3 minutes to cross the intersection. And whenever he reached the point, he takes out the “Fortune Today” of divination book of I Ching (Book of Changes) and his Mobile Phone. 

For a moment, he holds his breath to concentrate on the divination .

And with his Mobile Phone, he starts casting his Hexagram, Toaday.

Less than 2 minutes, he has got the six numbers of binary level as “110010”.

Then he found his casted Hexagram is : JEOL of Number 60.

where the strength occupy the center.

Even the regulations be severe and difficult,

they cannot be permanent. It will come to an end.

Pleasure and satisfaction directing the course amidst peril.

All regulations controlled in its proper place.

We have free action proceeding from the central and correct position.

Heaven and earth observe their regular terms,

and we have the four seasons complete.

their measures according to the due regulations,

the resources of the state suffer no injury,

and the people will receive no hurt.

            澤上有水，節；君子以制數度，議德行。

Gentleman shall make numbers and measures,

and examines the nature of virtue and correct conduct.

It only took less than five minutes to finish the Divination Today.

And he got his conclusion that he could have good crops if he would do try as possible. Also he should be calculating.

So, today I could be fortunate if I do my best efforts.

You should keep the six binary levels during casting the Hexagram, correctly with its order.

If there is no pen and paper to write down,

your fingers could be useful to memorize them.

When the binary level is determined to be 1, stretch your finger (to be 0, finger folded) in order as the thumb left hand is the first binary level and the thumb right hand is the sixth one.

Casting your Hexagram Today

The most important thing to cast your Hexagram

Today is that you should believe

You shall never try the Casting twice in a day.

STEP 1 : Prepare a Stop Watch or Stop Watch

         Function of Mobile Phone.

STEP 2 : To get the first (below) Line of the Hexagram,

press the "Start" button of the Stop Watch.

Take a time to let the digits run and press

         the "Start Button" again to read lapsed time. 

STEP 3 : Read the 2 digits of 1/100 sec of the lapsed

time. Divide this number by 2, to get the

remainder of 1 or 0. (ex: divide 79 by 2 to

get the remainder of 1, then the Binary

Level becomes 1.) If there is no remainder,

the Binary Level is 0

  

STEP 4 : To get 2, 3, 4, 5 and 6th (top) Line, repeat 

          STEP 2 and STEP 3.

          Complete your 6 digits of Binary Level,

          like 101101.

STEP 5 :  Find your page of BOOK OF CHANGES

           by the Binary Level to convert to get your

           Hexagram Today.

           If your completed Binary Level is 101101,
